In the research area of the museum a comprehensive file is maintained of Robert Henri Paintings, together with over 200 slides of those paintings. Many reference books are kept on hand for students doing research on Henri's life and art. Some of those books include: Son of the Gamblin Man(Mari Sandoz), Robert Henri in Santa Fe, Robert Henri-His Life and Art(7 autographed copies by Bennard Perlman), Painters of the Ash Can School-The Immortal Eight(1 autographed copy by Bennard Perlman), Robert Henri-The Painted Spirit, The Eight and American Modernism(2009), The Eight(Owen Gallery)2005, Robert Henri American Icon(1998)-small but hard to find-2 copies, The Art Spirit-85th Anniversary Edition(old hard back editions available.), Bulletin from Georgia Museum of Art(1976)-1 copy as of end of September '09(out of print)- Robert Henri & Sissy, Goya in the Fantastic Tradition and Elihu Vedder-American Old Master, One rare, out of print and hard to find copy Robert Henri & His Circle by William Innes Homer, Revolutionaries of Realism 1997 (letters between Henri & John Sloan)DVDs & VHS copies of Robert Henri and The Art Spirit(29 minutes) PRINTS:Lady in Black Velvet, 1 Framed print of The Art Student(portrait of Miss Josephine Nivison, 1906), and many postcards and note cards!
There is so much research material in the museum it would take at least half a day for the serious Henri student and admirer to study. Books which are out of print and unattainable are available under supervision due to their value both on the main floor and the second floor. Genealogy on the Cozad family dating back to the 15th century is available thanks to the generosity of Marilyn Cozad.
