Robert Henri

The Robert Henri Museum was the childhood home of Robert Henri, the famous artist. Henri's father, John J. Cozad designed it as a combination room and board to accommodate settlers who arrived on the train, until other lodging was available. It was built with soft red bricks from Traber Gatewood's brick yard east of town. The Cozad family lived in Cozad until 1883. Robert Henri was almost 18 when he and his mother, Theresa, sold the home and left Cozad. The building is listed in the National Historical Register.
